Happy Christmas Exmouth United Under 13s!

A fantastic fun night was had  by all when parents and siblings joined Exmouth United Under 13s at the Christmas party! There were some great shots, some great tackles and plenty of congestion (due to playing 12-a-side on a 5-a-side pitch!).

Thanks to all the players and their families for your effort and support this year. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Exmouth United 1-3 Central United

On a blustery day it was Central United that sealed victory in a hard fought game in which both the hosts, Exmouth United, and the visitors played some nice football. Central had the early pressure and made it pay with two goals. However, the hosts held their nerve and continued to play their football. They created a number of openings and were unlucky not to have a goal by half-time.

Exmouth created more in the second half and were rewarded when Bryn Stephens chipped over a crowded defence to release Lewis Evans whose shot was parried and pushed home by Cayleb Field. It was Central who found the target next but Exmouth continued to work hard right up to the final whistle. There were some notable defensive performances from Daniel Alford and Owen Brady for the home side.

Exmouth United 4-7 Cullompton Tigers

On a very windy day Exmouth chalked up their first goals of the season in an exciting match against Cullompton Tigers. The visitors took the lead but an impressive brace from Jay Leballeur put United in front. The momentum swung back towards the Tigers as they were backed by the wind in the second half. At 5-2 down United dug deep and created chances with some excellent teamwork. They pulled it back to 5-4 but the visitors held out for the win.

Cup First Round: Exmouth United 11-2 Broadclyst Youth

Exmouth United Under 13s brought their "A game" to the first round cup tie against Broadclyst Youth. After just 3 minutes they took the lead when Cayleb Field's effort was parried and Jay Leballeur tucked in the rebound. United moved the ball around superbly and it was soon 2-0 when Bryn Stephens crossed for Field to chip in. Leballeur turned provider when his corner was volleyed in by midfielder Lewis Evans.

Next it was the turn of right winger Stephens who scored with a deft left-foot effort. Goalkeeper Lewis Alford was having a quiet day but stepped up to convert a penalty and make it 5. United were protected at the back by some very strong defending from Owen Brady, Daniel Alford, Dylan Mogford and Jack Greaves.

In spite of the visitors getting one back Exmouth continued to dominate. Stephens crossed to set up a debut goal for Anthony van de Bunte. Tommy Foa was alert as the second-half keeper and started a number of attacks with his accurate passing. Evans and Alford both got their second to make it 8-1. Next Mogford delivered a great cross from the right for Tom Price to slot past the keeper. Broadclyst scored another before Seb Harrison dribbled from his own half all the way through to score an individual wonder goal. Leballeur topped off an excellent team performance to grab a brace and make it 11-2.

CS Cougars 5-0 Exmouth United

On a glorious September morning it was CS Cougars that came out fast and immediately put Exmouth under pressure. They made it tell and were one up within a few minutes. The home side dominated the first half and it wasn't until the second half that United began to get into the game. They were able to create a couple of chances but overall found it hard to find the passing rhythm they showed last season. Despite coming out 5-0 losers Exmouth continued to battle until the final whistle and will have learned a lot about playing 11 v 11 to take into their next match.

Honiton Tournament - great show from Exmouth

Exmouth United Under 12s attended the Honiton Town Youth FC tournament this weekend. The team were up against some excellent opposition and, after a slow start, soon got into their stride. Some fantastic performances included a draw against high-flyers Whipton Youth and some great football against Honiton and Lympstone.

6-a-side team
Harry Kifli-Reynolds and Daniel Alford were superb in goal and defence. Dylan Mogford, Bryn Stephens and Lewis Evans played some excellent football in defence and midfield. Cayleb Field, scorer of 6, was fantastic up front. Jay was missed due to an injury but we hope he recovers soon. Well played boys!

We thank Honiton Town Youth FC for a well managed tournament. The referees did a great job.

United win the Plate at Ottery St Mary tournament!

This Sunday we attended the Ottery St Mary tournament. United Under 12s started slowly in their group but soon gained their composure and began to play some neat passing football. Goalkeeper, Lewis Alford, was in exceptional form making numerous superb saves. Owen Brady and Harry Bassett showed their versatility in playing well both in defence and attack.

United qualified for the Plate semi-final and stepped up a gear with an excellent victory topped off by a wonderful dribble by Seb Harrison to set up debutante Tommy Foa who blasted it home. Exmouth faced Central United in the final and were 2-0 down before they knew it. However, they sensed hope in the second-half when Bryn Stephens sent a bullet header into the net to pull one back. With their tails up Exmouth pressed Central back and next it was Lewis Evans who poked in a shot from a Tom Price pass. With only 2 minutes to go it was Price who topped off a great performance by slotting in the winner from close-range.

Many thanks to the tournament hosts in Ottery - it was a friendly and well run event with good facilities.

Central City 1-4 Exmouth United - United clinch the double!

A fortnight after winning the Exeter Youth League Plate final Exmouth United Under 12s became Division 2 champions with a stylish 4-1 victory away at Central City.

Champions! Well done boys!

The match began very evenly with chances at both ends, the United glovesman Lewis Alford being called upon to make some fine saves. Full-back Tom Price and centre-back Owen Brady tracked back well and put in some excellent tackles to keep City at bay. It was United striker Kuba Strzalkowski who broke the deadlock when he worked an opening and struck a right footed screamer past the keeper.

After the break, Exmouth stepped up their passing and began to dominate. Jack Greaves was instrumental in supporting the attack from right-back and when Bryn Stephens struck the post Finn Glanfield kept a cool head to bury the rebound. Cayleb Field then released Strzalkowski who took on the defence, rounding the keeper and slotted in for his brace. Central never gave up and scored from a counter-attack but the victory was topped off by a Stephens shot from a tight angle to make it 4-1.

United top Division 2 with a goal difference of 55.

United Manager, Ag Stephens, said, "The players should be immensely proud of their achievements this season. Every member of the squad has made a massive contribution and have improved both individually and as a team. It's been a great season and we have had fantastic support from family and friends. We look forward to playing our football in the top division next season."
